The Jumping Crocodile Cruise on the Adelaide River is one of the most thrilling wildlife experiences in Australia — and surprisingly family-friendly. As the boat moves through the river, crew dangle meat from poles to entice wild saltwater crocodiles to leap vertically out of the water just metres from passengers. These are huge, wild animals — some over 5 metres long. The commentary is informative and funny, and the experience is genuinely breathtaking for all ages. Located about 60km east of Darwin, tours run morning and afternoon. Book in advance during school holidays. The crocodile activity is slightly better in the dry season (May–October) but tours operate year-round.
