One of Australia's most beautiful botanical gardens, set on 14 hectares beside the Derwent River at the foot of the Domain. Free entry and open every day. Features a subantarctic plant house, Japanese garden, herb garden, and broad sweeping lawns perfect for picnics and running. The children's discovery garden has interactive exhibits. School holiday programs often include planting activities and nature play. Dogs on leads welcome in parts of the garden.
