The Coal Valley Wine Region near Richmond offers some of Tasmania's most family-friendly cycling — flat sealed roads through scenic vineyard country with minimal traffic. Hire bikes in Hobart or bring your own. The loop from Richmond township through the vineyard region is about 25km for the full circuit, but many shorter sections suit younger riders. Stop at cellar doors for juice tasting and vineyard picnics. Richmond village has great bakeries and cafés.
